Heber, Arizona is situated on the Mogllon Rim in Navajo County, Arizona. The estimated eleveation is 6,600+, an unicorparated community settled in 1883. It has become a hidden gem for checking out of the busy communities in the valleys/deserts of Arizona. Originally a community established by the members of the Church of Latter-day Saints (LDS church) to leave the desert areas in the summers and also used for ranching during those same times.
Heber-Overgaard has an atypical version of a Mediterranean climate (Köppen Csa) with a dry period in early summer followed by heavy monsoonal thunderstorms and rain from frontal cloudbands in the cooler months. Like more typical Mediterranean climates, however, forest fires tend to be extremely prevalent during dry summer periods.
Today this area has developed into an area for tourism and retirement. With todays technology you can work from home, stay in touch with family and friends and enjoy the country lifestyle this community affords. Small lakes, fishing, hiking trails, forest serivice roads for off roading have made this a newer destination area to be with nature and turn off the noise of suburban living.
